The Princeton Tec Charge-MPLS is a high-power version of their popular Point and Switch MPLS lights. It combines high-powered headlamps and helmet task lights into a single, lightweight, simple lighting system. The Charge carriers over the popular flexi-neck design from the legacy systems, allowing operators to point the light where they need it without having to orient their body or head. Its new, increased power output creates a 55-lumen max-bright spot beam output of white light. This produces a bright light throw over 30 meters for about 4.5 hours. Surrounding the max bright spot beam white light is a series of colored Ultrabright LED’s (various configurations available) that produce a wider spill pattern of useable light at high/low settings out to 10 meters.
The Charge MPLS is part of a modular system that includes MICH Helmet and MOLLE/PALS adapters. Without adapters, it mounts directly to Ops Core ACH-ARC Helmet Rails. The design of the housing also protects against accidental activation of the power button.
The Charge-MPLS is one of those products that make you think: “Why didn’t I think of that?” It’s beauty is in its simplicity. The device weighs practically nothing, yet provides incredible functionality. The ability to bend the boom neck to different angles insures you have task lighting where you need it, regardless of which way your head is turned. Mounting it on armor carriers provides directional lighting for medics. The helmet mount gives operators much needed lightweight illumination for everything from reading maps to fixing equipment.
