Mission has designed these titanium probes to keep the operator alive.
Titanium's
non-magnetic, non-corrosive, tougher than steel, and will not break in subzero
temperatures. Because of these properties, titanium is the ideal material to find
sub-surface mines in the safest fashion. The current "suicide sticks" made out of plastic, carbon fiber or fiberglass fishing
rods, aluminum, wood, etc., bend break and give the operator an unclear "feel" when locating mines.
Our objective in building these EOD designed probes is to give the operator the
best of all possible odds. It is much harder to make a serious mistake with a probe
that does not over-flex or break when you are probing for a mine.
The TA-PROBE consists of the basic three piece unit 16.625" OAL plus two extensions for a probe length of almost 28" OAL. These fit into a ballistic nylon sheath, small enough to be carried in the vest pocket or worn on a belt.
This whole probe kit weighs 6.2 ounces.
A second model has just been introduced with the same dimensions and specifications and the addition of light knurl on each section These allow for easier disassembling with cold, wet, and muddy hands and when using gloves.
